1. How many children do you have?
2. Do you plan to start a family soon?
3. This job frequently requires overtime work, including Sundays. Would this be a problem for you?
4. What language do you speak at home?
5. Were you born in this country?
6. I’ve never had a male secretary before. Do you think you would be happy in this job?
7. Are you a Canadian citizen?
8. How long have you lived at your present address?
9. Do you live with relatives? What is their name?
10. We would like a photo to attach to your application, since so many are being hired. Would you mind supplying us with one?
11. Your French is very good. Where did you learn it?
12. Have you ever been convicted of a crime?
13. We need the name of a relative to be notified in case of an emergency.
14. List the names of clubs, organizations and lodges to which you belong.
15. Have you ever had trouble obtaining credit?
16. That’s an unusual name. What nationality is it?
17. Do you own your own home or are you renting?
18. Are you single, married or divorced?
19. This job requires you to be on your feet a lot. Do you have any physical condition that we should know about when considering your application?
20. (Of a female applicant) This job requires a lot of heavy lifting. Do you think you can do it?
21. I notice that you were limping as you came in. What is the problem?
22. What is your church affiliation?
23. Have you ever been arrested?
24. List the schools you have attended.
25. If you are hired, we require proof of citizenship. Could you then supply us with a birth certificate or baptismal certificate, or naturalization papers?
26. You look like you have Indian ancestry. Am I right?
27. Who should be notified in case of emergency?
28. If you are hired, will you bring a photograph for your personnel file?
29. Who referred you for a position here?
